November 23

Civics- we turned in dating brochures and played Monopoly and recorded expenditures and revenues on a worksheet.

US History- students work on WWII "What I learned" project and explained what they learned to me. We will start the Cold War after Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and remember to thank a veteran for their service to the country.

Nov 20

US HISTORY- finished notes on WWII and began a study guide of key terms to be completed by Tuesday

CIVICS- we took notes on Economics about product and factor markets. We did a couple short skits involving key economic terms and took a practice quiz.

Civics- we took notes on the different economic thinkers, played a economic millionaire game and students began a dating service brochure for our economic thinkers.

US History- we took notes on the Pacific theatre and battles with the Japanese. Students then watched a clip from Band of Brothers and from Saving Private Ryan.

Civics- we took notes on the different type of economic systems. We then drew your business in these types of economies: capitalism, communism, traditional, and a mixed economy. Students then did their Benchmark corrections.

US History- we took notes on WWII and watched a clip from Enemy at the Gates.

November 16

Civics- we took notes on economics and began to create a business portfolio using a business that the student desires to start. We will take our benchmark test tomorrow (Tuesday).

US History- we took notes on FDR and the New Deal programs.

November 13

Civics- we finished 12 Angry Men and reviewed how to write the essay to respond to the movie. The benchmark test will be on Monday and I hope someone in the band will relay this message to other band members who cannot check this. Extra credit to the person that responds to this post and tells me they can.

US History- we took the test on the Unit including: progressives, WWI, and the Roaring 20's. Remember the pledge and do your corrections for extra help to boost your grade.

November 12

Civics- we will review our mock trial and discuss the Benchmark that will be on Monday. We wil watch the film 12 Angry Men and will write an analysis of the American justice/jury system.

US History- we reviewed for the next US History test covering the Progressive Era, WWI and the Roaring 20's. Please remember your pledge and make notecards for the test.

November 10

Civics- today was our mock trial and overall it was very successful. We spent the entire class in the seminar room conducting the trial and going over evidence of the case. The jury had a very hard time deciding what verdict to reach.
If you were absent today, simply write in paragraph/essay format whether or not you think Jack Jones is guilty. Use 5 supporting facts from the case in your arguement.

The  next Benchmark will be on Monday when we return from the weekend. Best of luck, it counts 3 times.

US History- today we took notes on the causes of the Great Depression and Herbert Hoover. We watched a short clip on the Hawley-Smoot tariff and did our 1920's speakeasy party.
Our next test will be Friday and it will count 3 times; remember the pledges we made.

Civics- we finished the notes on law and began more work on the mock trial.
The trial will take place Tuesday and will culminate with a Benchmark on political parties and law.

US History- we took notes on Warren Harding and finished the WWI video. Then we took a practice quiz and picked characters for our 1920's speakeasy party.

Civics- we took the bar exam and all passed...finally! We continued the movie and took notes on juvenile delinquents.

US History- we took notes on WWI and began the Century Video on WWI. Tomorrow we will finish the video and begin the WWI quiz.

November 3

Civics- we took notes on civil and adminstrative law and did Corrections for the political parties test.
Students worked on the mock trial, presented information at the arraignment and watched My Cousin Vinny.

US History- we took notes on the start of WWI and USA involvement. Students went around the room to state their goals for the class.
