December 15

Civics- today we finished notes on Economics and reviewed goal 9 and 10 study guides. We finished the China capitalism video.

US History- we started notes on Ronald Reagan and reviewed using 2 review sheets.

December 14

Civics- we took notes on the global economy, population shifts, and China's move away from communism. We started to fill out Goal 7 study guide. The final benchmark will be on Thursday.

US History- we took notes on President Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter. We viewed video clips from Forrest Gump (edited scenes that did not make the final cut). We will review more tomorrow for January's EOC.

Dec 9

Civics- today we worked on a superhero that has the ability to regulate businesses and enforce these regulations. The superhero needs to be completed today and we will begin to work on another aspect of the project tomorrow.

US History- we took notes on Nixon and Vietnam and watched a brief clip on Nixon's "I'm not a crook" speech and when he resigned and left office.

December 4

Civics- today we began notes on banking and loans and reviewed notes on the business cycle. Students finished their surveys for fiscal and monetary policy and began test corrections. Students must turn in surveys completed by parents by Monday and will be given back to allow students to survey teachers by Thursday.

US History- we studied  notes on the American Civil Rights movement and began to work on a civil rights song that will be due Monday.

December 3

Civics- we took notes on fiscal policy, monetary policy, the Federal Reserve, and trickle down economics. Students then took a practice quiz on supply and demand. Students then worked on creating surveys to ask family members and teachers which policy they believe will fix our current economic system.

US History- we took notes on the end of the JFK era and the Warren Commission. Next we examined the ABC News video on the 1950's. Students turned in the worksheet.

Dec 2

Civics - we finished the notes on supply and demand and took the Econ Test #1. Please make this up in 5 days if you were absent this day. We will take and supply and demand quiz on Thursday and begin the last Econ notes for the year.

US History- we took notes on the end of the Eisenhower Era and beginning of the Kennedy era of 1960. Students did a great job with notes and class discussion. We also watched the Zapruder film.

December 1

Civics- today we took notes on demand and its' effect on prices. We then practiced demand graphs on a worksheet and took some notes on oligopolies and types of markets. Tomorrow will be a 50 question test on economics and a product and factor market graph. Turn in business folders as well.

US History- we took notes on the Cold War and President Eisenhower. Students then drew TV frames from news reels for 4 key events in the 1950s: McCarthyism, Levittowns, Sputnik, and the U2 incident. There will be a take home test on WWII tomorrow and a video on the 1950s.
