Civics- We took the political parties and campaign exam. After the exam we inaugurated Jeff and Gray as class Presidents. Then we practiced an AP Government style question and used the remainder of the class to finish the children's book project. This project is due Monday.
US HISTORY- we took the Presidents test then took notes on President Taft. We watched a short video on the Progressive Era and took a short quiz on the video. Students used the remainder of the time to finish their T Roosevelt picture. Civics- We finished our campaigns and elected a new class President and filled out the electoral map. Jeff was elected for the 1st period class with over 320 electoral votes. Congrats! 4th period will do the same today. We also took brief notes on lobbyists. THE TEST ON POLITICAL PARTIES AND CAMPAIGNS IS TOMORROW. ******possible mini-essay question on the Electoral College!
US History- we took notes on WEB DuBois and Booker T. Washington with a focus on segregation in America. We read an excerpt from the book The Jungle by Upton Sinclair which exposed the meat-packing industry. Students began to draw Teddy Roosevelt as a collage.

Civics- We took notes on financing a political campaign. We filled out a worksheet entitled ROAD TO THE WHITE HOUSE and used it as practice for a quiz tomorrow. Students continued work on campaigns for each candidate and were told to bring in material tomorrow to work on the next project. Students will create a children's book about the Presidential campaign. We will work on these tomorrow along with taking your 23 question quiz.
US HISTORY- students finished the Benchmark test and took the mini-essay portion of the exam. Benchmarks were graded and returned to the student and each student began corrections. Scores were great! Good job class!

Civics- we took notes on political parties and elections. students then watched a couple political ads and created a political party timeline. Students then created an advertisement from the perspective of an interest group for their respective candidate.
US History- we reviewed for the Benchmark, took notes on unions and strikes on the handout, watched a video on the US in the 1900s and did the skits that were prepared yesterday.

CIVICS- we took notes on political parties, interest groups, and began our primary for the campaign for class President. We conducted the primary and each student participated in a campaign for their nominee from their row.
US HISTORY- we took notes on immigration and reform in the city. All notes are complete for the Benchmark on Tuesday or Wednesday. Students began to prepare for a 1 minute skit from the Gilded Age.

CIVICS- we filled out a workshee that identified which political party you most closely identify with. Next, we took notes on national political parties. Please have more trades in the stocksquest account by the end of next week. We examined commonly missed questions on the Benchmark.
US HISTORY- we took notes on unions and strikes in the late 1800's. We will be done with notes so that we can finish that last 40 questions on the Benchmark. Students also fixed mistakes on their quiz and turned it back in for full credit.

Civics- Took Benchmark #1 today and handed in the State and Local Government Project with rubric attached. Period 1 scored a 77%. In 2 weeks on Oct 28 you will hand in the analysis of the difference in news reports between Fox news and MSNBC. Civics- we finsihed the city charter and notes on referendum and state apportionment issues. Students began drawing their city once the charter was approved by myself. The drawing and all state and local project worksheets are due on Thursday. The PSAT is Wed. and the test will on State and Local Gov't will be Thursday.
US HISTORY- we began notes on Imperialism and reviewed the Populist movement. Students began a project that reviewed all terms associated with Populism. Create a song or story that uses the terms in the Populist movement notes. Use a popular song you wish and convert the lyrics to reflect the terms we discussed with the Populist movement. Worksheet with instructions was handed out.

US History- we continued the notes on the West and began a journal about leaving the Post-Civil War era for a new start out West in the Great Plains. We finished Davey Crockett, began Dances with Wolves (with journal) and began test corrections for Unit 3 test. Journal due by Wednesday.
